MAjor drum-kit bands?
I want to work out what drum-kit I'm going to buy for my next, and I have no idea what are the major (and/or good) brands... And I want to start researching now, listening to samples and watching videos so I can, by the time I'm ready and have the money, know what I want... I'm especially looking for brands that have models with two bass drums...

Ok it will all depend on how much you want to spend. Tama, Pearl, Sonor, Yamaha, Mapex all have a range of kits from beginner to pro and all offer add on drums such as extra bass drum. If this is your second kit i assume you want something semi pro or better than the entry level kits. All these kits have their pros and cons. For example you get the same hardware with the yamaha as you do with their pro kit, mapex has plenty of bang for your buck as you can get into a maple kit for the price of other brands birch kits. Your best bet is to go to a specialist drum store and spend an hour or so trying the different kits out this is by far the best way to decide . To give you some idea i recently went and did exactly that, spent about two hours of trying all the kits in my price range and finally settled on a Tama Superstar custom 6 piece with gilbrater rack and hardware, Pearl Vinnie Paul snare and iron cobra double kick all up this was about $4000 Australian. This setup perfectly suited my style which is playing punk/progressive rock but is also versatile enough to bust out some reggae or ska on. No doubt there will be a kit that suits you perfect its all about try before you buy.
