The right tensions for drums?
can anyone help or tell me what are the right tensions for each drum are? I bought a used drum torque key and I just want to tune my drums so they sound perfect and I don't know what the right tensions are at all.
There is no correct tension. That is determined by the quality of the lugs, lug boxes, heads and bearing edge of the shell. The main use of a torque key is to ensure all of the lugs are the same tension. Just pick a number to start with, tune all lugs to that and then move up or down one number until you find the sound you like. I have been playing for over 30 years and search for the perfect tuning.
I almost forget to mention, when using a drum torque you need some kind of lube on the lug nuts to ensure you are getting an accurate reading. They used to make something called lug lube, but if you can't find it Vaseline actually works to.
