My dog is very sick, please help?
My chihuhua is under 5 pounds, he is 7 years old. Last night he started to drink excessive amounts of water, and got pretty bloated.
This morning he started having bloody diarrhea, but he doesn't pass stool each time, sometimes its just blood.
It is a pretty significant amount of blood for a small dog.
I would call or take him into a vet but everything is closed here due to the bad ice storm today.
Can anyone tell me what is going on??
I know it isnt parvo, because he is drinking water, and there isn't that classic stench that comes with it. Anyone know what this is???

Even if your vets office is closed, you need to call him. Tell him what is going on with your dog. He needs to be seen and evaluated, but if the weather is too bad, perhaps he can give you his opinion and what you can do until you can get him to the vets office. Usually, bloody poop can be caused by a lot of things. Parasites are usually to blame. But if he is drinking a lot of water, it could be another cause such as diabetes, etc. Please at least call your vet and let him know about this. Best of luck to you.
