Are Gretsch and Sonor drums good quality drums?
I'm looking to buy my first set, and i cant decide on what kind of set. So far i like pacific, and tama. But i dont want to spend a lot. I heard gretsch and sonor are good, but i just wanted to hear what some of you guys thought about them. yeah, i just was looking at these sets right now for the cheaper price because i cant really afford a good pricey ludwig with expensive cymbals. i was also wondering what cymbals work best with gretsch? most of the gretsch sets i have seen have sabian cymbals.
All are decent brands. Musician's Friend strikes me as a super retailer, their customer service has always been fabulous for me, and of course you can't beat the prices.
Of the two, the Gretsch set has more drums for you to work with--so I'd go with that first. If you get it and it stinks, Musician's Friend has a generous return policy, you could try it out and then send it back and order the Sonor, you'd only be out shipping.
Of course, nothing is going to beat old Ludwigs with Avedas Zildjan cymbals...but you'll go that way later, right?
