What is the best high sound that I can get out of my snare drum?
I have a pearl stainless steel sensitone drum with the stock 1-ply bottom cover and an evans super tough drum head for the top and i was trying to tune it to replicate Korn's snare drum. If anyone knows if that is even possible tell me what i need to do and if not, what am i able to do?
Long read but all you'll ever need to know. I don't really listen to Korn so I am not familiar with his sound, but I have never liked the sound of a 2 ply batter head on a snare which I assume the Evans is. I would try a Remo coated Ambassador on top tuned pretty high with no or very little muffling. The heads that claim to stop ringing and over tones generally make your drums sound like crap in my opinion. Evans and Aquarian are two companies that are big on this type of head.
