Drummers: Gig bags or SKB's?
I'm trying to decide between gig bags or cases for my drums. Right now I'm using those Nomads. They're cases, but without padding. They were fine at the time as money was tight, but they have outlived their usefulness and don't offer much protection.
I'm going to be a music exec in LA, and drumming has become more of a hobby. I haven't even played out in almost two years. But ya never know.... My thought was, get the SKB's, best on the market, it will cost about $500.... Or, just get a good set of gig bags, still offering more protection than the current Nomads. ...... Basically, the only plus of the cases at this point is if I'm going to be shipping them, which doesn't look very likely, or if they're dropped down a flight of stairs...
So help me out and let me know what I should do....
