Updating my drum set or buying a new one?

Hey everyone, I've been playing drums about 4 years now and am interested in either updating my current kit with cymbals or simply replace everything, My current kit is a Pearl Target with Sabian B8 cymbals (pretty beginner I know)

So here are my two choices.

1st idea;

*Replace the current drum heads.
*Buy new cymbals.
*New hardware including kick pedal and hi hat stand.
*Possibly new hoops etc.

2nd idea;

*Just buy a new kit possibly a new pearl or mapex

So what do you think I should do? and what drum set would you recommend me me buying?

Extra Details; Im not too bad at the drums and hope to record soon after i get the new kit or update the current one.

well it obvisouly depends on how much money you want to spend. dont upgrade your current drums. you could go with some better heads, but thats it. cymbals are a great thing to upgrade because they can always be transferred to any drum set. so if you buy new drums in the future, you wont have to worry about cymbals! a new kit would be ideal.... but obvisouly can get quite expensive. suggestions: pearl vision, tama starclassic/superstar, mapex Q/VX. check out some of those. they arent top of the line, but the brands are superb and those models i listed wont disappoint. so personally, i think you should look into some cymbal upgrades, and maybe some drumhead upgrades. try out evans hydraulic heads. they are known for making bad quality sets sound a lot better. you could even start upgrading hardware too, as this will also transition well to a new drumset.

hope this helps some. email if you want more info!
