What would I want to do with this mandolin?

I have a goldtone mandolin that cost around $450, and I've been playing it for a few months. I am going to be playing it in a studio and live at a few small venues soon and I was wondering if I should invest in a new electric mandolin, or would I be able to just put a pickup in it?

they make pickups that you just stick on guitars so i would think they would have the same for mandolins.
