welding question making metal hot dog sticks?
so I trying to make metal hot dog sticks, wood handle, metal rod. I am going to bend the tip like a U shape then I have to adhere the U to the rod. I am pretty sure it has to be welded on doesn't it? I don't have the tools, and I am afraid I if solder it then when its used it will melt and fall apart after putting it into a 1,000* bonfire flame.
I have seen a soldering gun that is 100-140 watts I think with the right sold it may be able to handle 800*

I think that any of the common solders (known as "soft solder") will lead to a problem. The next step would be "silver solder." It would probably take the heat, but it requires a torch, flux, and tricky techniques. Regular welding would probably do the trick, but it too requires equipment. Let me toss a challenge out to you: Can you come up with a design that incorporates your U shape into the metal rod? It might take twice as much wire, and both ends may have to go into the wood handle, but hey, who cares. Good luck!
P.S: There is lead (Pb) in soft solders--not a good combination with food.
