senegal or ghana trip? for med school?
option 1. senegal Care and community: working in a kindergarten in ST louis with children aged between three and six, you will help a variety of activities like arts, games, and songs, and you will help local staff develop stimulating new ideas to interest young children in learning. you can also help street children, preparing breakfast and more.
option 2: Ghana >Medicine> as a pre-med i will have teh chance to work in a wide range of departments in a busy ghanaian hospital. there is also the opportunity fro medical volunteers to work on an outreach program, visting local orphanages to help treat minor ailments and wounds.
which option is better for medical school and why? I want to transfer to UCLA by fall 2009 and so I have to put something on my application and my resume.

I dont know which option is better. ghana seems more logical but i dont know.
Going to Ghana will give you more of a chance to learn Ghanaian medical skills, but I can't promise you that you'll actually do much hands-on work. All of the women who were volunteering at the hospital in the town where I work in the summer complained about how they never got to actually help, and one of them was a full-fledged doctor.
If you're just going for the résumé, then you're not going for the right reason and should very much reconsider what you're doing. If your heart's not going to be into it because you're concentrating on a piece of paper, there's no point in going at all.
