I need help with understanding drum kits?
What are the standard sizes of drum kits (with snare, kick, tom 1, tom 2, floor tom, high-hat, ride and crash cymbals)?
And what are good makes of drum kits?
What is a fusion kit?
What is the smallest kit you are able to buy?
1. your standard size drum kit is 22" bass, 12, 13, 16" toms (the 16 is floor, the 12 and 13 are mounted) and 14" snare. hi hats are usually 13-14", ride is 20-22", and crashes can be 14-18". the cymbal sizes really depend on your taste and preference.
2. tama is my personal favourite. i play on the starclassic maples which is a very popular kit amoung professional and novice drummers. pearl, mapex, yamaha, dw, and gretsch all make nice kits though.
3. a fusion kit is just smaller drum sizes. in answer 1 i gave you "standard" sizes. for fusion, you have 22" bass (sometimes 20"), 10, 12, 14" toms (all mounted, sometimes the 14 is floor), and 14" snare.
4. you can buy as small as you like
