Can you add pieces to an electronic drum kit?

I am looking at buying a Yamaha DTXPRESS IV standard and i was wondering (becuase i know very little about electronic drums) if i can buy and add more drum pads or cymbals to it. or any other kits for that matter.

The only restriction for the number of pads you can use with your kit is the number of inputs in the kit's computer or "brain." Check the specs for the number of un used inputs in the module; most mid and high end electronic kits will have a few unused inputs for later expansion. If you want to go even bigger, you could always buy a second module and double your pad/cymbal inputs.
