Want to learn musical instrument, percussion instruments, self teaching?
Hi, I want to learn the basics of percussion, and a particular instrument, Dholki, but I am sure I need to get the basics of percussion down first. I am not a rich dude, so can't afford music schools, so is there a way I can teach my self percussion? I have no musical background, except for making music on FL Studio.
What would be the best way to do this? Other than Drums for Dummies, as I want to learn to play using my hands and not drum sticks.
Instruments I am interested in are Djembe, Bongos, Dholki, Dhol, Tabla, Congas, etc.
Thank You
You could try playing along to the music you already own, that seems to be a way most people self-teach.It's difficult at first but then you get into a sort of a 'trance' after a while and then it starts sounding good. They say if you can tap your feet to music then you transfer the rhythm from your feet to your hands...
I personally would like to learn the Bodhran.
Don't forget you have a free learning resource at your fingertips - the internet - so if you googled "djembe tutorial" or similar you're bound to find something for free.
