Any way I could muffle a bass drum on the outside?
I can't open it up and put a pillow inside, and I can't pay any money to buy an exterior drum muffler, so any easy way to do it?
I was thinking taping lots of newspaper where the bass pedal will hit or something like that.
That newspaper idea might make it sound strange though. It would probably sound like a snare and I would doubt it would muffle much. Just take off the front drumhead and then throw a pillow in there. Do the front head because it sounds like you're afraid to mess with the tuning. If you did the beater head, you would have to tune it back better. Putting a pillow in the bass makes it have a nice punchy non-ringing sound. Good luck.
