What are some tips to design a great business flyer?
If someone wants to order a business flyer from an online printing company (such as: http://www.vistaprint.com/vp/ns/biz/splash/datasheets.aspx ) what are some best practices for custom flyers to advertise your business? Should they be color flyers?
If you're going with an online company like VistaPrint who can print full color economically, I'd go that route. These will be much more eye-catching.
Here are some tips for creating your flyer:
Don't focus on the name of your business. Focus on the benefit your product or service will provide to your target audience. Include that in your heading in a large font.
You didn't mention what your company does, but don't try to list everything on one flyer if you offer many products and services. Choose one or two and make those the theme of your flyer. For example, let's say you own a hair salon. Don't just say, "Haircuts." Say, "Look Your Best with the Latest Styles" or "Look Your Best NOW -- No Appointment Needed" or "Look Your Best While Paying Less" or something along that line. Tell the reader how he or she will benefit (in these examples by looking good, saving time or money) by using YOUR company.
If a photo of a person lends itself to what you're selling, include ONE high quality photo. Photos of a person or people will draw attention to your flyer.
Don't forget basic contact information such as phone number, email and web site. I know this sounds silly, but I found a new business flyer on my car a few weeks ago with NO contact information. Also include office location(s) and hours of operation if applicable. All of this can go in the bottom 1/3 with your business name or logo (make it large) above it.
You may not have space, but if you do and you have a customer testimonial, that's great to include in a box.
This is the basic information for your flyer. Don't cram your flyer full of too much information or people won't read it.
Really all you need is the benefit of what you're offering, your company name and how they can find you. The photo and testimonial attract attention and provide credibility if you can add it without making the piece too cluttered.
